Hello From the North
Hello and thank you for considering Gichigami French Bulldogs as your new family member!
We are Kristen and Barrett Martin, and we have been residing in Northern Michigan since 2015. After selling our horse ranch in Ocala, Florida, we made the decision to move closer to family and establish a new horse farm, while also reopening our breeding program. Our home sits on 68 acres of beautiful wooded land in northern Michigan, providing plenty of space for our dogs to run and play. As lifelong animal enthusiasts, both of us have been involved in the horse and dog world since our early childhood, and our passion for these animals remains as strong as ever.
Our love for French Bulldogs began in 2008 when I purchased my first French Bulldog, an adorable brindle Pied (spotted) female named Vista. It was then that I fell head over heels for this incredible breed.
With over 30 years of experience in the dog and equine industry, we continuously strive to provide our clients with the finest French Bulldog puppies to complete their families. Our extensive knowledge and expertise in animal care and breeding allow us to bring the very best to the table. Our love for French Bulldogs has spanned over 15 years, and this is evident in our hands-on approach to breeding and the overall well-being of our dogs. We genuinely want the best for our dogs and their new families.
All our French Bulldogs adhere to the breed standard, featuring a low-to-the-ground stature, short backs, perfect facial structures, and compact tails that sit close to the body. Our color range is extensive, ranging from the traditional French Bulldog colors of fawn, cream, red, and pied, to the exotic colors of blue, recessive black (fully black with no brindle), blue fawn, lilac, Isabella, merle, platinum, tri coats, tan pointed, and any variation of these colors.
To ensure the health and well-being of our Frenchies, we conduct comprehensive health testing, including 6 panel health tests and genetic health tests for an additional 216 variants through Embark Genetics.
We take a hands-on approach to raising our puppies, as they are born and raised in our homes alongside us. This allows them to have a more well-rounded upbringing, as we expose them to new experiences as they grow. By the time they are ready to go to their new homes, they are confident and well-adjusted puppies.
While we strive to provide as much information as possible on our website, we understand that you may have additional questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist you in any way we can.
Feeding our dogs is of utmost importance to us. Our puppies are introduced to a special puppy mush at three weeks old, consisting of pumpkin, filtered water, and ground up Fromm puppy kibble . As they grow, we gradually transition them to hard puppy kibble, starting with a mixture of mush and kibble from Fromm Family dog food. Eventually, they will solely eat the kibble.
For our older dogs, we feed them a combination of Fromm Salmon A La Veg mixed with real salmon and real veggies, as well as Fromm Whitefish and Lentil soft dog food. This diet, along with appropriate supplements, ensures their overall health and longevity. French Bulldogs are prone to allergies and obesity, so maintaining a balanced diet is vital.
Once again, thank you for considering Gichigami French Bulldogs. If you have any further questions or require additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to assist you every step of the way!
